The Bonus reads: Pi because tires are round. And, at this bonus, you can meet one of the pioneers of car tires on motorcycles. If that doesn't interest you, you can also have pie, which also happens to be round. Heck, you can even do both.
Yep here is your chance to dine with two great friends (and veterans) of the BMR. Not to mention, two great people. Both of whom have great moto-bike tenure and are certainly not square.
Your quality picture will contain five things:
1. Eric Vaillancourt
2. Cletha Walstrand
3. Your Motorcycle
4. Your Placard
5. You
... and ideally signage of Veyo Pies

We were both psyched about this bonus. First of all, one of our favorite roads, Gunlock Highway, takes us right to Veyo Pies. The sky was clear, the temperature was perfect, we were riding our bikes AND we were about to meet some BMR riders and friends. Yes, it was going to be wonderful!
We arrived at Veyo Pies around 10:30 (RenoTime) and already saw three riders there waiting for the bonus clock to tick at the top of the hour so they could grab the bonus and move on to the next.
Veyo Pies has some of the bestest ever PIE. You can read about them here: Veyo Pies. My personal favorite is Coconut Cream with Berry, Cherry, Apple, Peach, Chocolate and Lemon a close second :-)
They also have lunch so Eric got a BBQ beef brisket sandwich with chips and a drink.
Of course he got PIE - Peach Pie!!
Looks pretty pleased with himself, doesn't he? Hahaha, yup lunch and pie at Veyo Pies.
As we waited for the hour to reach 11:00 (RenoTime) we chatted with the riders who had stopped for the bonus. The parking lot at Veyo Pies got rather busy with a bunch of unusual looking motorcycles. A GL1800 Honda Goldwing, two BMW 1200 GS's (one water cooled and one air cooled), a BMW F800GS, a Honda NC700X, a Kawasaki Concours and a Yamaha FJR. Each one modified somewhat for Long Distance Riding.
Lynda Lahman arrives at the bonus.
So does Heidi Still. Okay, the party can now officially start!
As with any gathering, no matter how large or small, the riders always hang out in the parking lot, kicking tires, telling lies. Oh, no, I mean mesmerizing stories of their exploits while on the road!
Finally, the magic hour had struck and we began putting the elements together for each rider. A picture was snapped on a cell phone and immediately sent to BMR Central for scoring. (Bonus photos brazenly stolen from the BMR website)
That was it! Seven riders showed up for the bonus. I know at least one rider (besides us) had pie and it was Coconut Cream :-) All riders were able to snap a picture with all five required elements and a bonus of the Veyo Pie signage! Yes, success!
And, each rider got a very special cookie from Cletha's Cookie Creations!
See what you missed by not grabbing this bonus?????? Next time, pay attention ;-)
And, then they were gone. Located at a four way intersection, riders went three different directions to continue collecting BMR bonus points. The BMR is almost over and hey, the one who has the most points....wins nothing! Hahahahaha. Well, they get bragging rights! Actually, I don't know if they "win" anything. I do know they are having a super, fantastic time and will have a big banquet on Saturday night.
Eric and I rode the inaugural BMR and had a blast. Other commitments have prevented our riding it since, but I do believe we might jump back in next year. It was obvious that the riders were having a fabulous time and were looking forward to the grand finale banquet.
Thanks for making us a bonus location, RenoJohn! And, thanks to the seven smug riders who came to visit us!
As always, thank YOU for following my blog. Hopefully, I'll have plenty of material to keep us all amused this riding season.
Cheers,
Cletha
